Keltia CAD Training Course: CATIA V5/V6

Keltia’s CATIA V5/V6 Fundamentals course is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to CATIA, covering everything from 2D sketching and 3D modeling to assembly design and drafting. This course is ideal for engineers, designers, and professionals looking to develop essential skills for aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing industries. Candidates can also explore advanced tools such as Surfacing, Lofting, Advanced Modeling, and Sheet Metal Design, CNC etc. 

This course is available for both individuals and groups, with 4 to 40 hours of training delivered through the Keltia online portal: https://www.keltia-ireland.ie/online-cad-mentoring/. Classes typically run on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the late afternoon, but scheduling is flexible to accommodate students.

Course Content – CATIA V5/V6 Essentials & Advanced 

Fundamentals Module:

• Introduction to CATIA V5/V6 – User interface, navigation, and workspace setup. 

• Sketching & Parametric Constraints – Creating 2D sketches and applying constraints for precise geometry. 

• 3D Part Modeling – Extrusions, revolves, lofts, sweeps, and fillets. 

• Assembly Design & Constraints – Proper techniques for assembling parts and defining relationships. 

• Fabrication Drawings – Generating detailed 2D technical drawings with annotations, bill of materials (BOM) and title blocks 

Advanced Module:

• Sheet Metal Design – Creating sheet metal parts, bends, and flat patterns. 

• Lofting & Freeform Modeling – Using lofts, sweeps, and boundary blends for complex geometry. 

• Surfacing & Hybrid Modeling – Advanced surface creation, editing, and integration with solid models. 

• Generative Shape Design (GSD) – Creating complex surfaces and freeform models. 
• Kinematics & Motion Simulation – Understanding mechanisms and simulating part movement. 

Completion of this class should leave the student capable of entering V5 documents with an understanding of the file structure, basic functionality. They will know how to navigate the file structure to interrogate existing models and make simple parts.
